Help with Java script

Hi,

I came across a script in adove form as:

this.rawValue =  this.parent.parent.dataNode.ENCRP_CODE.value;

I tried to get the concept of this parent node and dataNode but couldnt technically link how the ENCRP_CODE is referenced. Pls help
